Thinking backwards.

Dogs pull on leads, some more than others — and when this happens, who is leading who?

This isn’t a rhetorical question! We really think it’s strange that people hook up halti, chokers, and harnesses to their dogs, when in fact they really want control of their hind quarters!

The Hip Slip Dog Leash is exactly that, a strategic retreat to the rear end of your dog! As the name “hip” slip implies.

The Hip Slip Dog Leash enables you take the power out of your dogs pulling power by giving you control over it’s hind quarters — where much of the puling comes from — and with a pull of the leash you apply pressure to your dogs lower waist making it uncomfortable for it to keep pulling. In time, usually immediately, your dog learns that when the Hip Slip Dog Leash is on pulling is no fun anymore, and importantly it also knows that you don’t want it to pull!

How to hold a Hip Slip Dog Leash

Below are three methods we recommend you try when walking your dog. The Hip Slip Leash is intentionally designed, and knowledge of the Thumb Loop and Index Loop methods empower you to get the most out of your leash, your dog, and to upskill yourself as a dog owner.

The Thumb Loop

Place your thumb inside the handle-loop and close your fist around it. This gives you optimal control over your dog and lots of strength.

The Index Loop

Place your index finger through the loop, place the leash handle on top of your other three fingers, and then close your fist. This method can also give you more strength and a higher-sensitivity to your dogs movements.

The Normie

Or simply hold it normally, like you would any other leash!

It's really about whatever works for you but we do recommend trying these different methods on your walks.

Adjusting the Hip Slip Guide Loop

The Hip Slip guide loop will need to be adjusted to suit your pups back length.

1. Loosen the knot that holds the guide loop.

2. Clip the leash onto your dogs collar then move the guide loop and knot further up or down so it sits between your dogs hips.

3. Tighten the knot again.

Tip: if it's been a while since you adjusted the knot, you may need to use pliers to loosen it again.
